Holi or the ‘festival of colours’ is an auspicious occasion in the Hindu Calendar It is widely celebrated as a festival across India and around the world. the date for Holi 2018 is 1.- 2. of march

The holi colour festival can be regarded as a celebration of the Colors of Unity & Brotherhood – an opportunity to forget all differences and indulge in unadulterated fun. It has traditionally been celebrated in high spirit without any distinction of cast, creed, color, race, status or sex. It is one occasion when sprinkling colored powder (‘gulal’) or colored water on each other breaks all barriers of discrimination so that everyone looks the same and universal brotherhood is reaffirmed.
Its a special time a year to remember those close to our hearts with splashing colours!

Also its a celebration to welcome spring, time to come out of the cocoons and enjoy the festival. Every year it is celebrated on the day after the full moon in early March and glorifies good harvest and fertility of the land. The new crop refills the stores and shelves in every household and perhaps such abundance is also the reason for so many marriages during Holi.

‘Holi’ comes from the word ‘hola’, meaning to offer oblation or prayer to the Almighty as Thanksgiving for good harvest.

Wooow, so here in spain we are honoring it a few times a day!
