Reiki
Universal life energy, gently passed on through hands-on healing — to restore balance in your body and let you simply be.
What is Reiki
Universal life energy through the hands
Our Reiki Session is based on a Japanese energy-healing practice in which the practitioner acts as a channel for what the tradition describes as universal life energy, rather than using their own energy. Reiki aims to balance the chakras and energy centres, calm the mind and encourage deep relaxation.
Reiki can also be beautifully combined with massage. Beginning with nurturing bodywork can help the body relax and open before moving into Reiki, creating a deeply calming and harmonious experience. The balance between massage and Reiki can be intuitively adapted by the therapist to each individual.
Reiki is a non-invasive therapy that stimulates the body's own healing potential, by gently placing the hands in a series of positions from the top of the head to the feet. You don't need to remove any clothing for treatment. You receive the session in a relaxed atmosphere with meditative music — a safe and cosy space that lets you let go completely and just be.
You may feel warmth, tingling or nothing at all during a session, but whatever the individual experience, Reiki always has a deeply relaxing and positive effect.
Usui System
The 5 Reiki principles
After many hours of meditation, Dr. Mikao Usui developed these five precepts, which he shared as he travelled the country teaching and healing.
Just for today, do not worry
Let go of the anxious mind, and meet this day as it is.
Just for today, do not anger
Release the heat of reaction and return to a calm, settled presence.
Honor your parents, your teachers and your elders
Hold gratitude and respect for those who came before you.
Earn your living honestly
Live and work with integrity and a clear heart.
Show gratitude to every living thing
Meet all life with thankfulness — the value Usui saw was missing alongside the healing.
Universal life-force energy is the energy that surrounds us all and sustains life.

The History of Reiki
Reiki has a story, and it is worth telling: Mikao Usui and the twenty-one days on the mountain, Chujiro Hayashi and his clinic in Tokyo, Hawayo Takata, through whom Reiki reached the West.
We have written it down the way it is handed on within the lineage, from teacher to student.

Reiki training
Learn Reiki — in three levels
Reiki is traditionally taught in three levels. Chetana passes on these attunements as a Reiki Master.
Level I
A one- or two-day course (depending on group size). You learn to channel universal life-force energy through your hands — for yourself, others, plants and animals.
Level II
Introduces distance healing and emotional and mental healing. A minimum of three months should pass between Level I and II.
Level III · Mastery
A more intensive, longer training for those who wish to deepen Reiki and pass it on themselves.

Frequent questions about Reiki
What is universal energy?+
Universal life-force energy is the energy that surrounds us all and sustains life. It is the energy from the universe, God, higher power — or whichever name feels comfortable according to your beliefs.
Can we be depleted of our own energy when giving a treatment?+
No. The practitioner's energies cannot be depleted or weakened, because we do not use our own energy source. We are tapping into the never-ending universal energy source.
Do I need to undress?+
No. Reiki flows through clothes and even through plaster casts. You stay fully clothed and simply relax while the hands are placed in a series of gentle positions.
Is Reiki a religion?+
No. Reiki is not a religion, so it does not interfere with any religious ideology or belief. Anyone can enjoy receiving it.
Can Reiki still flow if I fall asleep?+
Yes. If a practitioner falls asleep during a treatment, the Reiki will continue to flow for as long as it is needed. The energy goes where it is most needed on its own.
Let go completely.
